History: Wiki entry

AU History: Shizuru Fujino is the daughter of a Calderan family known for generations for their contributions, both as artisans and hosts, to traditional tea ceremonies: the men in her family learn to sculpt bowls and cups, and the women in her family learn to conduct the ceremonies themselves. These traditions have continued uninterrupted despite the war with Gigas and subsequent fallout. Shizuru's therefore grown up steeped in the cultures of Caldera, poised to take her place as her family's heir.

Still, Union had come to Caldera's aid, so Shizuru left for the city as an emissary representing Calderan's artisans. She became aware of just how large-scale the problems facing humanity were, but they still didn't seem to have anything to do with her. Even awakening as an Earthkin - and one with powers not typically found in Caldera - didn't give her a sense of purpose.

Then she went to Glacier and met one of the survivors there. It was pretty much love at first sight, and for the first time in her life, Shizuru has discovered that she cares about something. Yet she's ashamed of her love and has decided to hide it away, venting her feelings with "insincere" confessions and jokes. Love with a foreigner - and another woman, at that - can hardly be part of her life, can it?

Still, she intends to remain in Union as a representative of Caldera for diplomatic meetings. Given the way they treated Glacier, she's particularly looking forward to getting to meet the Elite Four.

Canon Personality:

[four paragraphs...don't start with the bad and lead ot the good, own the bad up front. transparent closet joke]

AU Deviation: Because she isn't burdened with a destiny that threatens to rob her of the only person in the world she cares about, Shizuru is still sane in this AU...for the most part. She's less capricious (on the surface) due to having grown up with a set path laid out in front of her, though after meeting Natsuki and deciding to become a diplomat, she'll be stepping out of line more often. [some more things about calderan culture in particular?]

She also has a really, really thick Calderan accent.

Canon Abilities: Shizuru is a HiME, a young woman with the ability to manifest a weapon who's also bonded to a "Child", or supernatural creature who fights for her and whose power is directly proportional to how much the HiME loves the most important person in their lives. Her weapon is a naginata with the ability to separate into a bladed whip and her Child is a squid/snake hybrid named Kiyohime. Because of her yandere obsessive love for Natsuki, Kiyohime is extremely large and extremely powerful. Its multiple heads strike quickly and it's been seen to breathe what might be poison gas and leak what might be venom.

Enlightened Abilities: Shizuru is a Poison/Dragon Earthkin with the Mastery of Battle ability. [Do I want anything to happen to her body physically? Poison from her skin so she can't touch Natsuki?] The breakdown of her evolutionary moves can be found below:

Starting:

First evolution:

Second evolution:

I would also like Shizuru to have a Steel-enhanced naginata that, like in canon, can extend into a bladed whip. If I have to wait until she's in game and request this item from an Engineer, though, that's fine too.

Starter Pokémon: I would like to be able to start with a Deino named Kiyohime and have this serve as Shizuru's only Pokémon throughout the game, since Deino is the Pokémon that most closely resembles the canon Kiyohime. If this is unacceptable, however, I'm also perfectly willing to wait and then go bond with Deino once Shizuru is in-game (by either waiting till she's out of Danger for Deino's native area or finding someone high-level who's willing to go with her).

Notes/Special Considerations: Mostly the above. I am open to the idea of having Shizuru break down over the course of the game, but that's something I would only want to do if her development in-game would lead to that behavior. Either way, I have a permissions post in place for her creepier/more villainous behavior, so nobody has to deal with that who doesn't want to.

Third-Person:

• What do you feel your role in your city is?
Well, tea has a way of enabling us to appreciate the present. But if you're speaking of me specifically...I suppose I'd like to continue working together with the other cities. To keep people safe.

• What do you seek for humanity’s future?
It'd be nice if we had one, wouldn't it?

Joking. Everybody should do their best.

• What does the story of the Savior mean to you?
That's the old Union story...let's see. It explains a lot about this city. They've inherited her spirit. I feel rather lazy looking at them.

• The gods of old have returned. How would you be judged if you were chosen as a representative of humanity?
I wouldn't dream of putting words in the mouth of something that powerful.

• A human has attacked a wild Pokémon who retaliates in defense. How do you respond and whom do you defend?
Who says it's a matter of defense? We just have to reach a peaceful conclusion. Isn't that best for all involved?

• When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why?
I'd like it to go about its day unmolested. It probably would, too.

• In your eyes, what is absolutely unforgivable?
Many things.

...Ah, Glacier fashion, perhaps. They cover up too much. It's disheartening.
